Lynda Mussen

Oil Painter

Nature is my inspiration for painting. I like to think I capture moments in time...when the light hits a subject in a compelling way. Whether an expansive vista, a street scene, a person, or a flower, I seek to express what I see in terms of light and shadow, inviting the viewer to spend some time with the scene and feel its emotion.

Painting in earnest since 2017, Lynda spent a few years after retirement from her teaching career in 2016 taking drawing and painting classes at SUNY Plattsburgh. Lynda, her husband Alan relocated from the wilds of Long Island to the beautiful North Country. Alan's family has roots in Keeseville and AuSable Forks as well as a family camp on Fern Lake, so the move was most natural. Lynda has a studio in their home in Peru, NY. She is a member of the 13 Sundays Plein Air group which meets every Sunday during the summer at different locations. She is also a member of Saranac Lake Artworks, Adirondack Art Association, the Strand Gallery in Plattsburgh and shows her paintings at Plein Air festivals and local juried art shows.
